Claude Code "Failed to parse marketplace file ... plugins.N.source: Invalid input" with claude-plugins-official?
Claude Code 2.1.58 fails with "Failed to parse marketplace file ... Invalid schema" when running
/plugin marketplace add https://github.com/anthropics/claude-plugins-official.git: severalplugins.N.sourceentries are rejected. Is this a known bug, and is there a workaround?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-plugins-official/issues/634

This is an open bug, confirmed by several users on 2026-03-14 and 2026-03-15; the thread contains no maintainer response or fixed version.
In Claude Code 2.1.58,
/plugin marketplace add https://github.com/anthropics/claude-plugins-official.gitfails withFailed to parse marketplace file ... Invalid schema, listingplugins.56.source,plugins.63.source,plugins.67.source, andplugins.71-75.sourceasInvalid input. When the error appears, the downloaded file is at~/.claude/plugins/marketplaces/temp_1773486579213/.claude-plugin/marketplace.json.Workaround that worked for a commenter: open that file and delete every plugin entry whose
sourceis"git-subdir", then retry adding the marketplace. The commenter notes that Claude Code re-downloads the originalmarketplace.jsoneach attempt, so this edit has to be done every time.As general advice: until the marketplace file or Claude Code is fixed on one side, either repeat the edit before each add, or skip this marketplace and use another one.

Commenter edited
~/.claude/plugins/marketplaces/temp_1773486579213/.claude-plugin/marketplace.json, removing all plugins with"source": "git-subdir". This made the failure go away, but the fix must be reapplied on every attempt because the unmodified file is pulled again.Did this work for you?
