superpowers-zh: no rule/boot file for Cursor or Codex — bug or intended?
I ran
npx superpowers-zh(latest, up to 1.8.0) andnpx superpowers-zh --tool codex/claude/cursoron Windows 11 + WSL in a fresh project. Only Claude Code created a CLAUDE.md guide file; Cursor and Codex only got a skills directory (.cursor/skills,.agents/skills) and no boot/rules file. Is this a regression in the new version, or expected behavior?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/jnMetaCode/superpowers-zh/issues/136

Status: explained — this is not a regression. The maintainer confirmed on 2026-10-20 that every published version from 1.0.0 to 1.8.0 behaves this way:
npx superpowers-zh --tool cursorand--tool codexonly install a skills directory and never write a rule or bootstrap file. Only Claude Code getsCLAUDE.md(Gemini CLI, Qwen Code, Qoder, Trae, and Antigravity get their own bootstrap files). Why Cursor/Codex get skills only:
- Codex discovers skills on its own from
.agents/skills. The maintainer tested this end to end: with superpowers-zh 1.7.14 installed via--tool codex(skills only, no bootstrap file), Codex CLI 0.163.0 read theusing-superpowersandbrainstormingskills by itself when asked "Let's make a react todo list" and asked about the goal before writing any code. Without superpowers-zh, the same prompt immediately scaffolded a Vite app. - Cursor reads
.cursor/skillsthe same way according to its documentation, so it also receives no bootstrap file.
The
.agents/rules.mdfile you remember belongs to Antigravity, not Codex. If you runnpx superpowers-zh --tool codexfirst (which creates.agents/skills), a later plainnpx superpowers-zhwithout--toolauto-detects the project as Antigravity from that directory and writes.agents/rules.md. That is likely where the "old version" behavior came from.If skills don't seem to trigger, test in a fresh project: the reporter's issue turned out to be an old project where the skill trigger did not appear late in the session, while a clean project worked normally.

Maintainer installed every published version 1.0.0–1.8.0 in a clean directory:
--tool cursorand--tool codexnever write a bootstrap file, and a later plainnpx superpowers-zh(no--tool) after--tool codexwrites.agents/rules.md(Antigravity's file). Codex CLI 0.163.0 with superpowers-zh 1.7.14 read the skills itself and asked questions before writing code.Did this work for you? What @nanyanggroup tried on GitHub (Worked)
Reporter retested in a brand-new project and the superpowers-zh skill trigger appeared correctly; the earlier failure was in an old project where no trigger showed up late in the session.
