  Fixed. The maintainer closed the issue on 2026-07-02 and confirmed that the deprecated Option 3 is no longer in docs/cursor-setup.md.

  A commenter checked the current main branch and found that commit c3a996f ("Fix: Remove deprecated Option 3 (Notepads) from cursor setup documentation") removed Option 3 from the guide. After that change, the Cursor setup documentation contains only two supported options: the Rules Directory method and the .cursorrules file. The maintainer's closing comment restated the same conclusion, so the fix is confirmed on both sides.

  The thread contains no error message, no tool version, and no configuration change; it was purely a documentation cleanup, so no setup steps are affected. As general advice, if you still see three setup options in the guide, make sure you are reading the current main-branch version of docs/cursor-setup.md rather than an older checkout, a published snapshot, or a cached copy.
