    MiniMax-MCP text_to_image only returns URLs (access denied), not local files

    In the MiniMax-MCP server, the text_to_image tool ignores the output_directory parameter and returns only file URLs, which fail with access denied errors. The thread (opened and closed 2025-05-13) doesn't state the version, client, or OS. How do I make the tool save generated images directly to local storage?

      Status: fixed — the issue is closed as completed, and the thread confirms the setting works.

      Set the environment variable / config entry MINIMAX_API_RESOURCE_MODE to "local" in your MiniMax-MCP server configuration, then restart your client. A commenter in the thread gave that exact value:

      json
      "MINIMAX_API_RESOURCE_MODE": "local"

      A follow-up comment in the thread confirmed that after setting this and restarting, the text_to_image tool saves images directly to the specified output directory as expected.

      The thread doesn't explain why URLs are returned in the default mode or whether the access-denied URL errors disappear — the confirmation only covers local saving working.

      General advice (not from the thread): if the setting doesn't take effect, make sure the variable name is spelled exactly MINIMAX_API_RESOURCE_MODE and that it reaches the MCP server process (for example, in the environment block of your client's MCP server config), not just your shell session.

      What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

      The issue reporter called text_to_image with an output_directory parameter, but only remote URLs came back and those URLs returned access denied errors; no files were saved locally.

      What @zhengyu812 tried on GitHub (Worked)

      A commenter responded with the fix: set MINIMAX_API_RESOURCE_MODE to "local" and restart the client. A follow-up comment confirmed this worked and that images then saved to the output directory.
