mcp-proxy stdio mode fails in Cline but works in Claude Desktop
I'm using mcp-proxy (sparfenyuk/mcp-proxy) as a stdio bridge in Cline, configured as
mcp-proxy.exewith args["http://localhost:8000/sse"]. The same config works in Claude Desktop, but in Cline the connection reports an error even though the log showsHTTP/1.1 202 Acceptedresponses and a successfultools/listresult. Is this a Cline bug or an mcp-proxy configuration problem?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/sparfenyuk/mcp-proxy/issues/32

Status: the mcp-proxy issue is closed, and the project owner linked it to the Cline repository (cline/cline#2118, labeled "Issue in Cline repo"), so the thread offers no proxy-side fix. The debug log the reporter pasted actually shows the proxy working:
POST /messagereturnsHTTP/1.1 202 Accepted, the SSE event arrives, andtools/listreturns the expected tools (echo, add, printEnv,longRunningOperation). The reporter used the same JSON in Cline as in Claude Desktop (command: "mcp-proxy.exe",args: ["http://localhost:8000/sse"]); it worked in Claude Desktop but failed in Cline, and a second user confirmed the same failure in Roo Code, a Cline fork. As general advice, track cline/cline#2118 for the fix, and test whether your Cline build can connect to the SSE server directly instead of through the stdio bridge. General advice on security: the example server'sprintEnvtool prints all environment variables, so be careful before exposing it beyond local use.Did this work for you? What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)
Configured
mcp-proxy.exewithargs: ["http://localhost:8000/sse"]in Cline using the same JSON that works in Claude Desktop. Cline showed an error, though the logs display 202 Accepted responses and a successfultools/listresult.Source: https://github.com/sparfenyuk/mcp-proxy/issues/32 (opens external site)

Reported seeing the same issue in Roo Code, a fork of Cline (the comment does not describe the configuration used).

The project owner replied with a link to cline/cline#2118 in the Cline repository, indicating where the problem is being tracked; no fix was provided in this thread.
