basic-memory MCP: ai_assistant_guide resource not found (No such file or directory)
When running Basic Memory v0.10.0 on macOS (Python 3.12, installed with uv) and launching
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector uvx basic-memory mcp, the inspector fails withMCP error 0: Error reading resource memory://ai_assistant_guide: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/Users/jccj/.local/share/uv/tools/basic-memory/lib/python3.12/static/ai_assistant_guide.md'. Why is the ai_assistant_guide resource missing, and how do I fix it?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/basicmachines-co/basic-memory/issues/39

Fixed per the maintainer in basic-memory v0.10.1, released on 2025-03-25. Note that the thread does not include a user confirmation that the upgrade actually resolved the error.
The error occurs when the MCP server tries to read the
memory://ai_assistant_guideresource butstatic/ai_assistant_guide.mdis not present in the install path (~/.local/share/uv/tools/basic-memory/lib/python3.12/static/ai_assistant_guide.md). The reporter suspected the static resources were missing from the package installation; the maintainer said they had also noticed the problem when installing a standalone package. The root cause is not confirmed in the thread. The maintainer's fix, as stated in the thread:
- Upgrade the tool:
uv tool upgrade basic-memory - Restart Claude Desktop.
No other configuration changes or workarounds are mentioned in the thread. If you still see the error after upgrading, the thread does not cover further troubleshooting steps.

Reproduced the failure on macOS with basic-memory v0.10.0 installed via uv, running
