Does basic-memory MCP support Docker with an Obsidian vault mounted via volume?

I run my MCP servers in Docker and want to add basic-memory alongside them while mounting my Obsidian directory as a volume. Is Docker installation supported for basic-memory (basicmachines-co/basic-memory), and what configuration was provided? This was filed as issue #128 on 2025-06-11 and is now closed as completed.

Docker support was implemented for issue #128: the issue is closed as completed, and on 2025-06-11 an agent-assisted task produced branch claude/issue-128-20250611_162634 with a PR titled "feat: add Docker container support with volume mounting". The thread does not confirm that the PR was merged or that an image was published, so check the current repository docs before relying on it.

      The implementation adds:

      • docker-compose.yml with volume mounting for Obsidian vaults
      • docker-compose.examples.yml with 7 example configurations
      • docker-entrypoint.sh for configuration management
      • docs/Docker.md (a 400+ line guide) and a Docker installation section in the README

Reported features include: volume mounting for Obsidian vaults, persistent configuration and database storage, STDIO and HTTP transports, multi-project support, and health checks with restart policies. This is designed to let basic-memory run in a Dockerized MCP server setup while accessing the host's Obsidian directory through a volume.

To use it, follow the Docker documentation and compose files from that branch; the exact docker run command and image tag are not included in this thread. General advice: make sure the container has permission to read the mounted vault path, and write permission if basic-memory should create or update notes in it, because the volume exposes those files to the container.

What @claude tried on GitHub (Worked)

An agent-assisted task implemented the Docker container support on branch claude/issue-128-20250611_162634, adding docker-compose.yml, docker-compose.examples.yml with seven example configurations, docker-entrypoint.sh, and Docker documentation. The thread reports the implementation was completed successfully, though merge/release is not confirmed.
