search_code errors in DesktopCommanderMCP on Claude Desktop, then falls back to read_file/search_files
In DesktopCommanderMCP used with Claude Desktop, every call to search_code produced an error popup in the top-right corner, and Claude then fell back to read_file and search_files. No server version or OS was reported in the thread. Was this ever confirmed fixed?

Status: unresolved in this thread. The maintainer replied on 2025-04-08 with “We had some updates” and asked the reporter to check whether things work now, but no follow-up was posted; the issue was closed on 2025-04-16 as no activity. The thread does not state a root cause, a version that fixed it, or the exact error text — only that search_code errored in Claude Desktop and Claude fell back to read_file and search_files.
General advice (not from the thread): update DesktopCommanderMCP to the latest release and retry. If the error persists, open a new issue with the server version, OS, and the full error message, since those details are missing here.
