Does github-mcp-server support SSE or streamable HTTP for Docker/GitHub Enterprise?
I want to self-host github/github-mcp-server in Docker and use it with GitHub Enterprise, but the default stdio transport is hard to expose from a container. The remote MCP server from GitHub is only for public GitHub. Does this project offer an SSE or streamable-http endpoint?

Status: fixed. The issue is closed as completed and a collaborator said on 2026-02-06 that the feature was finally merged, linking discussion 1482 for details.
The thread does not give the Docker run command, endpoint URL, or MCP client configuration. What it does state is that a contributor said that if HTTP support is added, SSE will not be supported, and another commenter confirmed that streamable-http would be acceptable. A collaborator later confirmed the merge.
Practical conclusion: do not wait for SSE. For a remote HTTP transport, expect streamable-http rather than SSE, and check the linked discussion for the current setup instructions because none are included in this issue. A contributor explained that if HTTP support is added, SSE will not be supported, which rules out expecting an SSE endpoint.

A commenter suggested looking at sooperset/mcp-atlassian as an example of an MCP server that supports both SSE and streamable-http.
