CVE-2026-61742 / CVE-2026-61788: DBHub MCP HTTP DNS rebinding and read-only mode bypass

Product
@bytebase/dbhub (npm)
CVE
CVE-2026-61742, CVE-2026-61788
Affected
< 0.22.6
Fixed in
0.22.6

Last verified against sources: October 16, 2026

Am I affected?

@bytebase/dbhub (npm): affected < 0.22.6. Fixed in 0.22.6.

What to do now

  1. Upgrade @bytebase/dbhub to 0.22.6 or later. [2]

General practice, not from the source: if the affected software could read tokens or credentials, rotate them after upgrading; pin versions and review changes before updating tools your agents run.

What happened

  • According to GitHub Advisory Database's advisory (Sept 24, 2026), DBHub's HTTP transport checked only whether the Origin hostname matched the Host hostname, which did not stop DNS rebinding (CVE-2026-61742). [1]
  • In addition, setting readonly = true on execute_sql left the database-level read-only setting unpopulated, relying only on a first-keyword check (CVE-2026-61788). [2]

Impact

  • A malicious website could invoke DBHub MCP tools from the victim's browser, and SELECT statements calling side-effecting database functions could still write or execute commands. [1][2]

What was done

  • DNS rebinding protection was fixed in 0.22.5 and read-only enforcement in 0.22.6. [1][2]
