CVE-2026-61559 / CVE-2026-61568: @zereight/mcp-gitlab SSRF token theft and DNS rebinding

Product
@zereight/mcp-gitlab (npm)
CVE
CVE-2026-61559, CVE-2026-61568
Affected
< 2.1.30
Fixed in
2.1.30

Last verified against sources: October 16, 2026

Am I affected?

@zereight/mcp-gitlab (npm): affected < 2.1.30. Fixed in 2.1.30.

What to do now

  1. Upgrade @zereight/mcp-gitlab to 2.1.30 or later. [2]

General practice, not from the source: if the affected software could read tokens or credentials, rotate them after upgrading; pin versions and review changes before updating tools your agents run.

What happened

  • According to GitHub Advisory Database's advisory (Sept 15, 2026), when ENABLE_DYNAMIC_API_URL=true was set, @zereight/mcp-gitlab used the X-GitLab-API-URL request header as the base URL with no allowlist and attached the victim's Private-Token (CVE-2026-61559). [1]
  • Its Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint also lacked Host and Origin allowlists, allowing DNS rebinding from a browser (CVE-2026-61568). [2]

Impact

  • An attacker reaching the HTTP transport could steal the GitLab Private-Token or reach the local MCP initialization path from a web page (CVSS 9.6). [1][2]

What was done

  • Patched in @zereight/mcp-gitlab 2.1.27 and 2.1.30. [1][2]
