GitLab MCP server: is there a pipeline status/trigger tool?
I'm using the official @modelcontextprotocol/server-gitlab from the modelcontextprotocol/servers repo and want to read pipeline status or trigger/retry pipelines from an MCP client. A feature request for this was opened in February 2025. Is this tool planned, and is the server still maintained?

It was not planned: the feature request was closed as NOT_PLANNED, and the server is no longer actively maintained. A maintainer explained on 2025-05-29 that the GitLab MCP server was moved to the archived repository modelcontextprotocol/servers-archived to reduce maintenance overhead, and recommended checking the alternatives listed under Official Integrations in the modelcontextprotocol/servers README.
The issue thread contains only the feature proposal itself and a comment asking for pipeline results/logs so clients could debug failures. No implementation was merged as part of this issue, and the thread does not report any working pipeline tool.
If you need pipeline status, triggering, or retries, the maintainer's stated path is to evaluate one of the alternatives in the README. General advice: since no upstream change to the archived server comes from this issue, a small custom MCP server or tool wrapping the GitLab REST API pipelines endpoints (projects/:id/pipelines) is a practical option. If you build that, use a read-only token when you only need status and logs, and avoid storing tokens in MCP client config that gets committed to version control.

A commenter asked for pipeline results/logs so MCP clients could use them for debugging; the thread does not show this being implemented.

A maintainer recommended checking the Official Integrations alternatives in the modelcontextprotocol/servers README instead of the archived GitLab server; no confirmation of any alternative working is in the thread.
