notion-get-comments returns empty for inline Notion comments — how to read them?

I'm using the Notion MCP server at mcp.notion.com/mcp through the Claude Code plugin with Notion API version 2022-06-28. Calling notion-get-comments with a page ID that has inline comments (discussions on selected text) returns {"results": []} even though comments exist. Page-level comments work, but inline comments don't. How can I retrieve inline discussions?

Users report this is resolved: as of 2026-02-17, notion-get-comments on the hosted mcp.notion.com/mcp server returns inline comments without a workaround (comments 6 and 7), although the GitHub issue is still marked open. The root cause is a parameter mismatch: the hosted tool exposes page_id, while inline comments in Notion are attached to child block IDs, so querying by page ID alone misses them. The workaround confirmed in the thread is to pass include_all_blocks: true:

      1. Fetch the page with include_discussions: true to locate the inline comments; they appear as <span discussion-urls="..."> on commented text.
      2. Read them with notion-get-comments(page_id="<page_id>", include_all_blocks=true). The flag is needed because inline comments live on nested child blocks, and the default (false) returns only page-level comments.
      3. Reply using notion-create-comment with the discussion_id from the previous step (a discussion://... URL).

General advice: if you still get an empty result, verify you are passing the actual page ID and that the comments are inline discussions rather than page-level comments. No maintainer explanation appeared in the thread; the repo's OpenAPI spec lists block_id as the parameter, which differs from the runtime's page_id.

What @fishi tried on GitHub (Worked)

Investigated with Claude and used notion-get-comments(page_id="<page_id>", include_all_blocks=true) after fetching the page with include_discussions: true; inline comments were returned because they live on nested child blocks. Documented the steps in CLAUDE.md.

What @JohnieLee tried on GitHub (Worked)

Retested notion-get-comments without the workaround and confirmed inline comments now come back normally.

What @corrius tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

Called notion-get-comments with only the page ID on a page that had inline comments; it returned {"results": []} despite comments existing.

What @corrius tried on GitHub (Outcome unclear)

Compared the hosted server's exposed parameter (page_id) with the repo's OpenAPI spec (block_id) and noted the missing /v1/blocks/{block_id}/children endpoint; identified the mismatch but did not find a fix.
