Does Gemini CLI show a privacy notice or offer a training-data opt-out?

Gemini CLI shows no privacy notice or opt-out for data used in model training in commands like /help, /about, or /docs. The only notice users can find online is for Gemini Code Assist, not the CLI. Is there a way to opt out inside the CLI, and does selecting No actually stop data collection?

Status: the issue is closed as completed, but the thread does not contain a confirmed in-CLI opt-out. A /privacy command was added in v0.1.6 with a Yes/No choice ("Allow Google to use this data to develop and improve our products?"), but commenters reported in September and October 2025 that the option no longer appears, including for a Google AI Pro subscriber authenticated via token.

The collaborator who closed the thread pointed users to docs/tos-privacy.md in the gemini-cli repository for data usage and privacy details; the thread does not record whether reading it resolved the concern. Nobody in the thread confirmed that choosing No stops data from being sent for training.

The privacy notice quoted in the thread (Gemini Code Assist for individuals) states that when you use Gemini CLI, Google collects your prompts, related code, generated output, code edits, usage information, and feedback to provide, improve, and develop Google products and machine learning technologies. One commenter claimed pay-as-you-go billing means nothing is used for training, but no official source was given in the thread.

General advice: check the current docs/tos-privacy.md and verify whether /privacy actually shows an opt-out in your auth setup before relying on any setting, and avoid sending proprietary or sensitive code through the CLI unless you accept the data use described in the notice.
