An authenticated user with permission to create or modify workflows containing a Python Code Node could escape the sandbox.
Affected: n8n < 1.123.48, 2.0.0-rc.0 to 2.21.8, and 2.22.0 to 2.22.4. Fixed in: 1.123.48. What should you check, and what should you do about it?

Am I affected? Affected: n8n < 1.123.48, 2.0.0-rc.0 to 2.21.8, and 2.22.0 to 2.22.4. Fixed in: 1.123.48.
- Check your version: run
npm ls n8n. Versions < 1.123.48 of n8n are affected.
What to do now
- Upgrade to the fixed version: run
npm install n8n@1.123.48(first patched version 1.123.48). - Upgrade to n8n 1.123.48, 2.21.8, or 2.22.4, or later.
- Limit workflow creation and editing permissions to fully trusted users only.
- Disable the Python Code node by adding
n8n-nodes-base.codeto theNODES_EXCLUDEenvironment variable, or disable the Python Task Runner entirely.
General practice, not from the source: if the affected software could read tokens or credentials, rotate them after upgrading; pin versions and review changes before updating tools your agents run.
