How to run matlab-mcp-server in headless/nodesktop mode?

Can matlab-mcp-server run in headless/nodesktop mode to speed up startup? A user requested an option like MATLAB's -nodesktop or -nosplash flags to avoid launching the desktop UI. MATLAB R2025a removed -nosplash. The request was closed in v0.5.0.

Fixed in v0.5.0 of the MATLAB MCP Core Server. A collaborator closed this enhancement request by adding a headless/nodesktop display mode. Start the server with:

      bash
      --matlab-display-mode=nodesktop

The thread does not include benchmarks, so no startup-time difference is reported — it only confirms the option now exists and the issue is closed. Note that, per a comment in the thread, MATLAB R2025a removed the -nosplash flag. A separate comment asked for -batch support on Linux, but the thread reports no resolution for that.

What @ybenouag tried on GitHub (Worked)

A collaborator reported the issue resolved in v0.5.0 and posted the new option --matlab-display-mode=nodesktop with an example invocation.

What @dapperfu tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

To work around a Cursor race condition that repeatedly spawned MCP server processes on Windows, a commenter tried creating lock files; the attempts led nowhere.
