Does ruler support Amp, and where does it store rules?

I use ruler (intellectronica/ruler) with the Amp coding agent. Does ruler support Amp, and if so where does it store its rules? A GitHub issue requested amp support because Amp uses AGENT.md, and the maintainer noted Amp has no per-project MCP config. Was that support implemented?

Status: The issue is closed as COMPLETED (opened 2025-08-02). The thread does not say the implementation was merged, released, or tested, so check the ruler README for an AmpAgent entry to see whether your build has it (general advice).

The maintainer looked at Amp's manual (ampcode.com/manual#configuration) and concluded that Amp does not support per-project MCP configuration. The proposed implementation is therefore not a modification to MCP config: instead, add a new AmpAgent that saves rules in AGENT.md, the file Amp uses for agent rules.

The maintainer then delegated the implementation to the project's coding agent with these instructions: use TDD, update the README, add only the new agent, make only changes strictly required for it, and keep all tests (including lint and CI) passing.

The thread gives no configuration steps for the user side — the only stated behavior is that Amp uses AGENT.md for rules and has no per-project MCP config. No release version is mentioned.

What @intellectronica tried on GitHub (Outcome unclear)

The maintainer checked Amp's manual, found Amp has no per-project MCP config, and proposed implementing support by adding a new AmpAgent that saves rules in AGENT.md. The implementation was then delegated to the project's coding agent with TDD and README-update instructions.
