browser-tools-mcp Chrome extension install errors: only drag chrome-extension folder?
I have browser-tools-mcp's MCP server and server services running, but Chrome keeps returning errors when I try to install the extension. Other users also see 'Error validating server identity: TypeError: Failed to fetch'. What is the correct way to load the extension manually so these errors go away?

The issue is closed as NOT_PLANNED, and no maintainer fix was posted in the thread. Two user workarounds did resolve the Chrome install error, though:
- When loading the unzipped extension program, drag only the
chrome-extensionfolder into it. A user confirmed this fixed the install error. - Delete the already-added plugin from Chrome, then reload it again once. Another user confirmed this worked.
One user also asked why the extension is not published and has to be added manually through developer mode; the thread does not contain a maintainer explanation for that. For the separate error
Error validating server identity: TypeError: Failed to fetch, several users confirmed they hit the same message, but no fix was provided in the thread.General advice: since this is an unpacked extension loaded manually, review its source and requested permissions before enabling it.
