Unity MCP can't detect Python/uv but they work in PowerShell: how to fix?
Unity MCP reports it can't find Python and uv even though both are installed and run from a shell, and the manual path fields won't accept entries. A related case showed Microsoft Store Python works in PowerShell but is still not detected by Unity MCP. What fixes this?

Status: fixed. A collaborator said this was fixed in PR #546, so update unity-mcp to a version that includes it.
The reported case was tied to the Microsoft Store build of Python. One user said the Store version worked fine from PowerShell (
pythonanduvboth ran), but Unity MCP still could not detect it. After reinstalling Python from python.org, Unity MCP detected it and worked correctly. A maintainer also explained that even if the plugin doesn't auto-detectuv, you should still be able to use the tool as long asuvis installed correctly and on your PATH.Concrete steps from the thread:
- Check whether your Python install came from the Microsoft Store. If it did, reinstall Python from python.org.
- Make sure Python and
uvare on your system PATH. - Update Unity MCP to get the detection fix in PR #546 if you're on an older version.

Reinstalled Python from python.org after the Microsoft Store version was not detected by Unity MCP, even though
pythonanduvworked in PowerShell; after the reinstall, Unity MCP detected it and worked correctly.Source: https://github.com/CoplayDev/unity-mcp/issues/483#issuecomment-3713010701 (opens external site)
Did this work for you? What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)
The issue author installed Python and uv manually so they were visible in a shell, but Unity MCP still could not detect them and the manual path fields could not be used.

Did this work for you? What @msanatan tried on GitHub (Outcome unclear)
A maintainer said that as long as
uvis correctly installed to PATH, the plugin should work even if it doesn't detect it automatically; no confirmation was given in the thread.Source: https://github.com/CoplayDev/unity-mcp/issues/483#issuecomment-3715007690 (opens external site)
