    How to configure Qwen Code as an ACP agent server in Zed?

    I'm trying to use Qwen Code (qwen-code) as an external agent in Zed over the Agent Client Protocol (ACP). The agent_servers setting with --experimental-acp produces no response on the latest Zed versions even though the feature is marked supported. What is the correct configuration for ~/.config/zed/settings.json, and are there version requirements?

      ACP support for Qwen Code in Zed is implemented and this issue is closed as completed. A collaborator verified the setup with qwen@0.1.3 and zed@0.209.5.

      Base configuration for ~/.config/zed/settings.json:

      json
      {
        "agent_servers": {
          "Qwen Code": {
            "command": "qwen",
            "args": ["--experimental-acp"],
            "env": {}
          }
        }
      }

      One user reports that on the latest Zed versions the entry also needs an explicit type key:

      json
      {
        "agent_servers": {
          "Qwen Code": {
            "command": "qwen",
            "args": ["--experimental-acp"],
            "env": {},
            "type": "custom"
          }
        }
      }

      If the agent does not respond, check that qwen-code --experimental-acp actually starts the Qwen process, then verify the config file path and contents. One user says the flag worked for them from qwen-code 0.1.0 onward; another reported no response even with the latest versions.

      Known limitation raised in the thread: slash commands are not yet forwarded when using a third-party agent as a subagent in Zed. One user filed zed issue #41405 (closed), and a new issue #993 was raised to track slash command support. Note that --experimental-acp is an experimental flag.

      What @pomelo-nwu tried on GitHub (Worked)

      A collaborator tested the integration with qwen@0.1.3 and zed@0.209.5 and reported it worked.

      What @pomelo-nwu tried on GitHub (Worked)

      A collaborator posted the agent_servers configuration for ~/.config/zed/settings.json using command "qwen", args ["--experimental-acp"], and empty env, saying the support already existed and adding a screenshot.

      What @wold9168 tried on GitHub (Worked)

      A user reports --experimental-acp worked from qwen-code 0.1.0 onward and suggests checking whether qwen-code --experimental-acp starts the process and reviewing the Zed config.

      What @dushmanta05 tried on GitHub (Outcome unclear)

      A user suggests adding "type": "custom" to the Qwen Code entry for the latest Zed, but does not report testing it themselves.

      What @yangxiangnanwill tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

      A user updated to the latest Zed and Qwen Code versions, applied the agent_servers config, and got no response from the agent.
