Does gemini-cli support Language Server Protocol (LSP) integration?
I'm using google-gemini/gemini-cli and want semantic code features like go-to-definition, find references, hover, and completions from the language servers already running in my IDE. Is LSP integration supported natively, and if not, where is this request being tracked?

Native LSP integration is not described in this thread. The feature request, opened 2025-08-20, was closed on 2025-12-03 during backlog cleanup and later confirmed on 2026-04-17 as a duplicate of issue #2465, where maintainers are centralizing the request for Language Server Protocol (LSP) support. No implementation or release was posted here, so follow #2465 for status updates.
The only concrete pointer from the thread is a contributor's link to an existing example MCP server for LSP: mcp-language-server by isaacphi, referenced at https://glama.ai/mcp/servers/@isaacphi/mcp-language-server (opens external site). The thread does not describe how to register this server with gemini-cli, which LSP capabilities it exposes, or whether anyone tested it with the CLI, so check that server's own documentation before relying on it.
If you need LSP-powered features today, an MCP server is the route the thread suggests; if you want built-in support, the maintained discussion is issue #2465.

A contributor suggested using an existing MCP server for LSP, specifically mcp-language-server by isaacphi, linked via glama.ai. No one in the thread confirmed that it was configured or tested with gemini-cli, so its suitability is unverified.
