Can I use Goose with Zed as an ACP agent?

  Status: fixed — as of September 2025, a Goose collaborator confirmed you can already use Goose with Zed over the Agent Client Protocol (ACP) using the latest Goose release. The GitHub issue is closed as completed, and a companion Zed PR (zed-industries/zed#38219) was in progress to make Goose appear in Zed's built-in agent list.

  To use it today: install the latest Goose from https://block.github.io/goose/ (opens external site) ↗, then connect it to Zed as an ACP agent. The thread links to Zed's "Bring Your Own Agent to Zed" blog post as context, but it does not include the exact ACP registration JSON or CLI flags. The earlier connection work is in block/goose PR #4511, which enabled an ACP connection between Zed and Goose. A collaborator also said they planned to propose a more first-class ACP setup soon.

  A collaborator pointed to existing work in block/goose PR #4511 that enables an ACP connection between Zed and Goose.

  A collaborator confirmed that with the latest Goose, an ACP connection to Zed can already be used today, and referenced Zed PR #38219 to add Goose to Zed's built-in agent list.
