    browser-use SSLError to eu.i.posthog.com: how do I disable the telemetry call?

    When running browser-use with a local Ollama model on Windows 11 or macOS, the logs show repeated SSLError or ConnectionError messages for host eu.i.posthog.com at /batch/. Setting ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY=false inside the script did not stop them. How do I turn off this telemetry connection?

      The issue is closed as completed. The thread shows the PostHog connection attempts come from browser-use's anonymized telemetry, which sends data to eu.i.posthog.com. The fix that worked for one commenter was to set the variable before browser_use is imported:

      python
      import os
      os.environ["ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY"] = "false"

      from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI
      from browser_use import Agent
      import asyncio

      Another user reported that putting ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY=false in the .env file stopped the error. A different user said that setting the variable inside the script after the imports did not stop the connection attempts, which suggests the import order matters.

      The thread does not confirm that the PostHog errors cause the "Could not parse response" or "404 page not found" messages, so treat those as separate symptoms unless you see otherwise in your own logs.

      General advice: if the error persists, print os.environ.get("ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY") just before the browser_use import to confirm the value is already false.

      Security note: the thread does not describe what data is sent, so the setting's privacy effect is not confirmed here.

      What @sablin39 tried on GitHub (Worked)

      Set os.environ["ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY"] = "false" before importing browser_use and the other dependencies. The PostHog error stopped.

      What @endur4ever tried on GitHub (Worked)

      Added ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY=false to the env file. The user stopped getting the PostHog error, though they later saw DNS problems on their own network.

      What @henshin tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

      Set os.environ["ANONYMIZED_TELEMETRY"] = "false" in the script after the imports, using langchain_ollama ChatOllama. The script still tried to connect to eu.i.posthog.com.

      What @zy1024 tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

      Fresh Windows 11 setup with uv venv --python 3.11, uv pip install browser-use, and playwright install, then ran main.py with ChatOllama. The PostHog connection failure still occurred.
