Why do slash commands like /clear not work in Claude Code remote control?
When a local Claude Code session is continued through /remote-control in claude.ai/code or the mobile app, typing slash commands such as /clear or /compact is sent as plain chat text instead of running as a command. Some users say /clear worked earlier and then stopped, and others report that /rewind and /fork are unavailable in the remote client.

The status is open. The issue is marked closed as COMPLETED, but later comments say the problem still occurs, and the thread does not show a fix.
Reports differ. Some users say /clear worked earlier and then began being treated as a prompt around mid-June 2026. One user on Claude Code v2.1.126 reported that slash commands were processed as commands, but the remote UI showed no autocomplete or command list, so the commands had to be known in advance. Another user reported that /rewind returns "isn't available over Remote Control". Another said /fork is not available in the remote client.
No maintainer fix, config change, or CLI flag appears in the thread. The workaround people used was to run the command from the local terminal, where the issue reports that slash commands are processed. For the command list, you need to know the commands in advance, since the remote UI does not show autocomplete.
Did this work for you? What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)
Started a local Claude Code session, ran /remote-control, opened the session in claude.ai/code or mobile, and typed /clear, /compact, /context, or /rewind. The commands were sent as plain chat messages instead of executed.

Did this work for you? What @ChrisHenryOC tried on GitHub (Worked)
Used remote-control on Claude Code v2.1.126 and typed slash commands. They were processed as commands, but the remote UI showed no command autocomplete, so the user had to know the commands in advance.

Did this work for you? What @contabilidad-source tried on GitHub (Didn't work)
Tried /rewind over Remote Control. The client returned that the command isn't available over Remote Control, so the workaround was to return to the local terminal.
