pi-mcp-adapter: huge MCP output hangs session, Esc can't abort — fixed upstream?
I'm using nicobailon/pi-mcp-adapter and some MCP tools produce very large outputs that hang the session and make it impossible to reopen. Esc doesn't abort a running MCP call and there's no per-request timeout. Was this fixed upstream, and is there a fork that handles truncation and timeouts?

Status: fixed. The maintainer closed this issue as COMPLETED and stated that later releases of pi-mcp-adapter implement abort propagation, richer call rendering, request timeouts, and output guarding/truncation. The thread does not name a specific version, so update to the latest release and check its release notes for the exact timeout and output-guard configuration.
While waiting for the upstream changes, the fork at github.com/igor-makarov/pi-mcp-adapter included all the proposed improvements: the abort signal is forwarded to the MCP client so Esc cancels a running call, tool titles render with their params, tool output is rendered like the bash tool with truncation and Ctrl-O expansion, a timeout parameter is passed to the MCP client, and output over 50 KB is truncated with the full result written to a file. One commenter said they had trouble with full output appearing and that this fork was working great for them.
Another commenter reported that massive MCP outputs can hang a session so it cannot be reopened. If updating isn't possible, using that fork is a practical alternative. General advice: also consider limiting what your MCP tools return and testing with a small output first, since this thread doesn't document a specific CLI flag or configuration key for the truncation behavior.

Igor Makarov created a fork with abort-signal propagation to the MCP client, tool titles with params, bash-style output rendering with truncation and Ctrl-O expansion, a timeout param passed to the MCP client, and 50 KB output truncation with full output written to a file. The issue author did not report testing results.
