How to fix mcporter Notion MCP auth error 'SSE error: Non-200 status code (401)'?
How to fix mcporter Notion MCP auth error "SSE error: Non-200 status code (401)"? With mcporter 0.7.3 on macOS (arm64, Node v24.11.0), I added Notion with
mcporter config add notion https://mcp.notion.com/sseand ranmcporter auth notion. The OAuth flow starts but fails with the 401. How do I get past this?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/openclaw/mcporter/issues/38

Status: fixed in main. A collaborator closed this issue as fixed by the OAuth transport work in #97, which preserves OAuth/post-auth failure context and avoids the broken SSE fallback path for this flow.
Until you can run a build with that fix, a commenter suggested the following workaround. The 401 happens during mcporter's fallback to the SSE flow, so the idea is to point Notion at its
/mcpendpoint and tell mcporter explicitly that the server uses OAuth. In your mcporter config:json{ "mcpServers": { "notion": { "baseUrl": "https://mcp.notion.com/mcp", "auth": "oauth" } } }For HTTP streaming servers, pass the flag when adding them:
mcporter config add foo http://mcp.foo.com/mcp --auth oauthNote that the thread never confirms this workaround actually got the Notion auth flow past the 401; it was posted as a suggested workaround. What is confirmed is the maintainer's statement that main no longer uses the broken SSE fallback for this flow.

Suggested workaround: set
"auth": "oauth"in the server config and usebaseUrl: "https://mcp.notion.com/mcp"instead of the SSE URL, or pass--auth oauthwhen adding an HTTP streaming server. The thread does not confirm whether this resolved the 401.Source: https://github.com/openclaw/mcporter/issues/38#issuecomment-4019550639 (opens external site)

Added Notion with
mcporter config add notion https://mcp.notion.com/sse, then ranmcporter auth notion. The OAuth browser flow started but failed withSSE error: Non-200 status code (401).Source: https://github.com/openclaw/mcporter/issues/38 (opens external site)
