mcp-chrome: 'semantic engine initialization failed' — does it break existing features?
Using hangwin/mcp-chrome, I get "语义引擎初始化失败" (semantic engine initialization failed) when the MCP server starts. The GitHub issue is closed, but I want to know whether this error blocks normal functionality and whether there is a fix. One commenter also reported the same failure even after the model was already downloaded.

The maintainer explained the behavior: the semantic engine needs a proxy (VPN, "梯子") to download its model, and a failed initialization does not affect any existing features of mcp-chrome. You can ignore the "语义引擎初始化失败" error and keep using the tool normally. A later commenter said the model was already downloaded but initialization still failed; that follow-up was not answered before the issue closed, so this thread has no confirmed fix for that specific case. As general advice: if the model files are already on disk but init still fails, check that they are in the directory the tool expects, make sure the machine can reach the model host directly, and restart the tool so it re-attempts initialization after any proxy/network changes.

The reporter opened the issue with only the error text "语义引擎初始化失败" (semantic engine initialization failed). No reproduction steps, version, or OS were given, and the original reporter never confirmed a fix.
