Deprecated /brainstorm and /write-plan slash commands show after superpowers install?
After a fresh install of the superpowers plugin on Claude Code v2.1.76 (macOS) via
/plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official, typing/superpowersor/brainstormshows deprecated commands (/superpowers:brainstorm,/write-plan,/execute-plan) alongside the current skills (/brainstorming,/writing-plans,/executing-plans)./reload-pluginsdoesn't make the current commands appear. Is this expected, and how do I get a clean command list?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/obra/superpowers/issues/756

Fixed: the owner reported that Claude Code verified the fix on the
devbranch (commit f55f8df, "Remove the deprecated legacy slash commands (#1188)"). Thecommands/directory is removed entirely, so the deprecatedbrainstorm,execute-plan, andwrite-planslash commands will no longer appear after the next release.During the transition period, the maintainer explained that the old aliases had to stay for existing users; there was no way to hide them for fresh installs without breaking upgrades, and pulling them early caused outcry before. The plan was a few weeks to a month of deprecation, then removal.
What worked in the thread:
- Install the plugin, then fully exit the Claude Code session and start a new one. Two users who initially saw only the deprecated commands reported that
/brainstormingand/writing-plans(among the new skills) appeared after the restart./reload-pluginsalone was not sufficient. - On superpowers 5.0.7, one user deleted the three deprecated stub files under
cache/claude-plugins-official/superpowers/5.0.7/commands/, which cleaned up the local command listing. The files return on every plugin update.
Caveat: the session-restart workaround did not work for every user, so on older releases the durable fix is to update once the removal ships.
