Notion MCP OAuth via Claude.ai fails with Internal Server Error on mcp.notion.com/callback
When connecting the Notion MCP integration from Claude.ai (Settings → Integrations), the Notion OAuth screen loads but after selecting a workspace and approving access, the redirect to mcp.notion.com/callback?code=... shows "Internal Server Error" and the connection never completes. This happens on Chrome/macOS with no browser extensions or VPN in use. Is this a known hosted-service outage, and is there a workaround?

Still open as of the last comment on 2026-04-22. The thread contains no maintainer response and no fix: the "Internal Server Error" consistently appears on mcp.notion.com/callback right after the user approves access in Notion. The reporter used no browser extensions or VPN, so those are not the cause. Multiple users confirm the same failure, including on Claude.ai Team and Claude Pro plans; one user retried daily for several days without success.
What the thread establishes:
- Go to Claude.ai Settings → Integrations and click Connect on Notion MCP.
- The Notion OAuth screen (notion.so/install-integration) loads fine.
- After selecting a workspace and clicking Continue, the redirect to mcp.notion.com/callback?code=... immediately shows Internal Server Error.
- The issue is reproducible consistently across attempts.
No workaround was posted in the thread. Since the error happens during the hosted OAuth callback, it does not appear to be something a user can fix from their Claude.ai settings, browser, or network. If you need Notion MCP access now, the thread does not offer an alternative path; monitor the issue for a fix. Note: this thread only covers the hosted MCP connection through Claude.ai, not locally configured MCP servers.

The reporter connected via Claude.ai Settings → Integrations, approved the Notion workspace, and was redirected to mcp.notion.com/callback?code=... which immediately showed Internal Server Error; repeated attempts reproduced it consistently.
