Why doesn't Roo-Code send MCP dynamic resources and prompts to the LLM?
I'm on the latest Roo-Code with OpenRouter and Gemini. My FastMCP server exposes a tool, a static resource, a dynamic resource template (
greeting://{name}), and a prompt, but Roo only surfaces the tool and the static resource to the LLM. Is there a configuration or workaround so dynamic resources and prompts are actually used?Originally asked on GitHub: https://github.com/RooCodeInc/Roo-Code/issues/2423

Not fixed. The issue was closed as NOT_PLANNED after an automatic staleness close, and no workaround was posted in the thread. The reporter ran the latest Roo-Code with OpenRouter/Gemini against a FastMCP server that defines a tool (
add), a static resource (config://app), a dynamic resource template (greeting://{name}), and a prompt. Roo listed only the tool and the static resource; the system prompt preview contained static resources and static prompts, but dynamic resources and dynamic prompts were never included.Comment 2 confirms the behavior is consistent, and the reporter first saw the same result with their own MCP server, then switched to the FastMCP reference example to make the failure easy to verify. A later comment (2026-01) points out that Roo supports only part of the MCP spec, so MCP servers that deliver prompts cannot really be used with Roo.
The thread contains no configuration or flag that makes dynamic resources or prompts appear. General advice, not from the thread: if you need a dynamic resource's data to reach the model, expose it through a normal callable MCP tool instead, since Roo does surface and invoke tools reliably.
Did this work for you? What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)
Reproduced with the FastMCP reference server (a tool, static resource, dynamic resource template, and prompt). Roo-Code showed only 1 tool and 1 static resource; the dynamic resource template and the prompt were never sent to the model.

Tried the same check with a custom MCP server under development. Behavior was identical: dynamic resources and prompts are absent from the system prompt preview, while static ones do appear.
