    How do I delete Claude Code sessions in the browser or desktop app?

    Claude Code sessions started from the web, mobile, or desktop app can be archived, but there is no visible way to delete them. A user reports that a delete button later appeared in the web UI, but the request returns a 404 not_found_error. Local sessions from the CLI or VS Code extension have a different workaround.

      Status: the issue was closed as completed, but the thread reports that deleting online sessions still does not work reliably. A February 2026 comment says a delete button appeared in the web UI, but the request returns a 404 not_found_error.

      For local sessions (Claude Code CLI or the VS Code extension), a commenter said session data is stored under ~/.claude/projects. Running the following removes all local projects:

      rm -rf ~/.claude/projects/*

      To remove only one directory's sessions, find that project's folder name inside ~/.claude/projects and delete just that folder. Another commenter replied that this command does not work for online Claude Code sessions.

      A commenter also pointed to a third-party wrapper, x-cmd, which says it supports listing, deleting, and restoring Claude Code sessions. The thread does not verify how it behaves.

      Security note: deleting files under ~/.claude removes local session data, so back up anything you need first.

      What @duan-contek tried on GitHub (Partly worked)

      A commenter ran rm -rf ~/.claude/projects/* to remove all local projects, or deleted a single project's folder inside ~/.claude/projects.

      What @mkalam-cloudzero tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

      A commenter tried the same ~/.claude/projects removal for online sessions and reported that it does not work for Claude Code online.
