Why doesn't the VS Code integrated browser autofill saved Edge passwords?
Why doesn't the VS Code integrated browser (Chromium/Electron) autofill passwords saved in Microsoft Edge or Windows Credential Manager on login pages, such as GitHub OAuth for Copilot sign-in or MCP server OAuth flows? Is there any workaround, and has the VS Code team acknowledged the request?

Still open. This is a feature request, not a bug, and the thread contains no implementation. It reached the VS Code backlog on 2026-09-14 after receiving enough community upvotes, but password autofill is not available in the integrated browser.
Why it happens: the integrated browser is Chromium-based (Electron), and per the issue body it runs as an isolated webview/BrowserView. That isolated context has no access to the host system's browser profile (e.g., Microsoft Edge) or OS credential manager (e.g., Windows Credential Manager), so saved credentials are never offered on login pages. The issue lists the affected flows: GitHub Copilot sign-in, MCP server OAuth setup, extension authentication, and Settings Sync sign-in. It also references a related request, #300149, for HTTP Basic Auth support.
The only workaround described in the thread is to type credentials manually or copy-paste them from an external password manager into the integrated browser. One commenter asked for at least a built-in "remember password"/autofill option, but no such change is shown in this thread.
As general advice: if you depend on this, upvoting the issue is the only lever the thread describes for raising its priority — the VS Code team explicitly uses the upvote count to decide whether a feature request reaches the backlog.

The reporter described the current workaround as manually typing credentials each time or copy-pasting from an external password manager; the thread does not state whether this works well.

A commenter asked to at least enable password remembering and autofill inside the integrated browser; the thread shows no resulting implementation.
