How do I fix Hebrew or Arabic right-to-left text rendering in Claude Desktop?

Mixed Hebrew or Arabic and English text in Claude Desktop and Cowork renders with scrambled word order and misplaced punctuation. The reporter says Unicode RLM/LRM marks, CSS unicode-bidi: plaintext, and JavaScript dir="auto" injection did not fix it. Is there a working workaround?

Status: open. The thread reports no official RTL fix in Claude Desktop or Cowork, and no maintainer has responded.

      What the thread mentions:

      • For VS Code, Cursor, or Antigravity, a commenter points to the marketplace extension with id Sapphify.claude-rtl-auto and says it does not fix the desktop app. Another commenter recommends an extension called "Claude Code RTL Support" for the same editors, without giving an id, and says it works, but does not say they tested it personally.
      • For Windows Claude Desktop, a commenter published a patch at github.com/shraga100/claude-desktop-rtl-patch. It patches the app's JavaScript files, creates backups, and offers a restore option. It requires Node.js. No outcome is reported.
      • A commenter on Claude.app v1.2581.0 (macOS) proposed injecting unicode-bidi: plaintext CSS into each WebContentsView through the existing insertCSS hook. This is a proposal; the thread does not confirm it was tested.

General advice: patching an installed app's files may be overwritten by updates or affect code signing, so keep backups before trying a patch.

Security note: a patch that edits app files runs with your user's permissions, so only use code you have read.

What a GitHub user tried on GitHub (Didn't work)

Reporter tried Unicode RLM/LRM marks, CSS unicode-bidi: plaintext, JavaScript dir="auto" injection into the webview, and Chrome DevTools Protocol injection into the Electron process. None fixed word order, per the reporter.
