Last verified against sources: October 16, 2026
What happened
- According to GitHub Advisory Database's advisory (June 13, 2025), MCP Inspector, a developer tool for testing MCP servers, had no authentication between the Inspector client and its proxy, so unauthenticated requests could launch MCP commands over stdio. [1]

Impact
- Remote code execution on the developer's machine; rated Critical with CVSS 9.4. [2]
What was done
How to protect yourself
- Upgrade MCP Inspector to 0.14.1 or later. [1]
